John Lee was re-elected president of the Claverack Republican Club at the group’s end-of-the-year meeting December 2 at Claverack Town Hall, Route 217, Mellenville.
This marks Lee’s second year of leading the organization, which he characterizes as in a “rebuilding” stage of its existence, with a renewed focus on community activities as well as political involvement. The club is best known as the sponsor the “Summer Concert Series” which presents live bands Thursday nights during July and August at the Claverack Town Park in Mellenville, a program that will continue in 2017. Charles Schram will return as the club’s vice-president in 2017. He took a year off from his political activities in 2016 but was re-energized by the results of the 2016 presidential election in which Republicans took firm control of the White House, the Senate and the House of Representatives. Also re-elected were Club Treasurer P.J. Keeler and Secretary Brenda Schram. The meeting was followed by a Christmas party at Gabriel’s in Philmont. The club meets on the first Thursday of every month (except January) at 7 p.m. at the Claverack Town Hall (Town Court) in Mellenville. Anyone interested in joining the organization is encouraged to attend a regular monthly meeting.
