 The Claverack Republican Club will hold its annual free Easter Egg Hunt for all Claverack youths ages 1 to 9 Saturday, March 30, 2024 at the Claverack Town Park, 91 Church Street, Mellenville.
The grounds open at 10 a.m. with the hunts getting underway at 11 a.m. sharp (rain, snow or sun). Prize baskets are awarded in three age categories: 1-3 years old, 4 to 6 years old, and 7 to 9 years old, along with additional prizes hidden in eggs all around the fields. The day will also feature a visit from the Easter Bunny and free refreshments for adults and children. Participating children are reminded to bring their own baskets or bags to collect eggs and candy on the field.

Two special events evenings highlight the 2023 season of the free Summer Music Series sponsored by the Claverack Republican Club at the Claverack Town Park, 91 Church St.
On Thursday, July 20, there will be a promotion for Everlasting Hope Animal Rescue featuring DJ Jack Bogarski. The evening will include discussions and displays of the group’s activities and success stories in finding homes for needy pets. Participants are encouraged (but not required) to bring pet foods, blankets and other creature comforts for animals still under Everlasting Hope’s care, awaiting their forever homes. Thursday, August 17 brings Emergency Services Appreciation Night, the club’s annual salute to area fire, police, EMS and dispatch personnel. The night usually attracts a large number of fire trucks and other equipment from local companies and a features variety of activities related to emergency services, including the presentation of the club’s annual “Claverack Cares” award. Returning from last year is the popular band Eli’s Gin. The grounds open at 6 p.m. both nights with the music getting underway at 7 p.m. Admission is free. A wide array of refreshments are available at the snack bar.  Get ready to make a difference in your community! The Claverack Republican Club is gearing up for their annual roadside cleanup on Saturday, May 13th, 2023, and we need your help to make it a success!
The cleanup will cover three one-mile stretches of road leading to the traffic light in the Claverack Hamlet, and the goal is to remove as much trash, litter, and debris as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity to work together with members of the community to make our streets cleaner and safer for everyone. Over the years, many residents have volunteered their time and energy to this project, and their dedication has been an inspiration to all. With your help, we can continue this proud tradition of community service. Volunteers of at least 12 years of age are welcome to join us, and you don't have to be a member of the Claverack Republican Club to participate. The event, expected to take just a couple hours, will start with coffee, donuts, and a chance to meet your fellow volunteers 9:00 AM at the A.B. Shaw Firehouse parking lot. A special event held Thursday July 28th at the Claverack Town Park brought in much needed supplies for the Columbia-Greene Humane Society. The event, part of the Claverack Republican Club's Summer Concert Series, included a performance by the Tailgate Band. Those attending the free concert were asked to consider making donations to the Humane Society. When the night was over, donations of cat food, dog food, kitty litter, dog bones, cat treats, blankets and related supplies filled a pick-up truck. All donations will be turned over to the twin-county rescue organization, based in Claverack.

This year’s Concert Series will feature three special promotion nights for local community service organizations and the 6th annual Emergency Services Appreciation Night. The series takes place Thursday evenings, July 14th through August 18th at the Claverack Town Park, Church Street, Mellenville. All the concerts are free of charge and open to the public. These community concerts have become a family-friendly tradition in Claverack over the years. The season opener is Thursday, July 14th when the always popular local band Jarrod will take the stage. The Thursday, July 21st concert features Night Moves and includes a special promotion for the Mellenville-Philmont Food Pantry. Attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food items and monetary donations for the food pantry that serves the entire Claverack community. July 28th is the Columbia-Greene Humane Society concert, featuring The Tailgate Band (formerly Southbound). Attendees are encouraged (but not obligated) to bring cat and dog food, old blankets and towels, paper towels, and monetary donations for this long-time twin-county rescue organization saving lost and neglected animals in Columbia and Greene counties. Jarrod returns on August 4th, featuring a special promotion night for the locally-based Everlasting Hope Animal Rescue. This group works tirelessly to save our forgotten pets. Donations of pet food and related supplies will be accepted to support the important work this rescue group does! On August 11th, Eli's Gin performs for the 6th annual Emergency Services Appreciation Night, a special salute to area first responders that includes free hamburgers, hot dogs and giveaways for fire, EMS, police and dispatch personnel. This is a terrific night to attend to support all of those who protect our community. The 2022 series closes on Thursday, August 18th with a performance by The Reverberators. The 5th Annual Emergency Services Appreciation Night was last Thursday at the town park with a record breaking crowd in attendance. The free event included nearly 100 first responders who were treated to hamburgers and hotdogs, giveaways and a concert by the local favorite band Jarrod. Police officers, firefighters, EMTs & Paramedics, nurses and public safety dispatchers were all attended the event and were honored for their service. The evening included presentation of the 2021 “Claverack Cares Award,” an award that is presented annually to a firematic, EMS, police or other first responder group or individual for outstanding service in assisting the residents of Claverack and outlying areas. This year’s award was presented to the Greenport Rescue Squad for their heroic and selfless efforts responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Emergency Services Appreciation Night is an annual tradition, part of the Summer Concert Series that takes place Thursday evenings in July and August at the town park on Church Street. The events are hosted by the Claverack Republican Club. All of the concerts are free of charge and open to the public.

The Claverack Republican Club will conduct a roadside cleanup of trash, litter and debris Saturday, May 22, 2021 in the Claverack Hamlet.
A number of years ago the group “adopted” three one-mile stretches of road leading to the traffic light in the center of the hamlet and each spring members and volunteers, in conjunction with the NYS Department of Transportation, pick up the trash that has accumulated along the sides of those three stretches. Volunteers from the Claverack Republican Club, many of them senior citizens, have conducted this clean up (all volunteer work - no pay or recognition) for years. The only "perk" has been the coffee, donuts and fellowship that the group enjoys prior to the day's work. Unfortunately, in recent years, the "new" (downstate) Claverack Democratic Committee tried to derail our tradition of picking up litter and trash by lodging a complaint with the State Department of Transportation. We were dumbfounded. Who would complain about someone cleaning up our roadways? Well, they did. Needless to say, they were unsuccessful. Please join us on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 9:00 AM as we continue our long tradition of cleaning up the roadways in Claverack. We'll meet in the A.B. Shaw Firehouse parking lot (volunteers must be at least 12-years old). Volunteers need not be a member of the Claverack Republican Club.... all are welcome! |
