CLAVERACK, NY — Claverack Republican's held their annual caucus recently and nominated a strong slate of trusted candidates committed to fiscal responsibility, local values, and common-sense leadership. This year’s endorsed slate—your Claverack team—includes Kippy Weigelt for re-election as Town Supervisor, Deputy Town Supervisor Stephen (Hookie) Hook for re-election as Town Councilman, Phil Tkacy for Town Councilman, Deputy Town Clerk Rich Michael for Town Clerk/Tax Collector and Lou LaMont for re-election as Highway Superintendent. “These are folks who know Claverack and care about doing what’s right for our town,” said Caucus Chairman John Lee. “Your Claverack team believes in keeping government efficient, spending taxpayer dollars wisely, and making decisions based on common sense—not politics.” Supervisor Kippy Weigelt, running for another term, said, “It’s been an honor to serve the people of Claverack. I believe in considering all points of view, keeping taxes in check, services strong, and town government working for everyone. I’m proud to lead your Claverack team.” Town Councilman Stephen Hook, who also serves as Deputy Supervisor, added, “I’ve always tried to bring a practical, thoughtful approach to the board. I want to keep standing up for our residents and making sure we preserve what makes this town such a great place to live.” First-time council candidate Phil Tkacy said, “I’m running because I care deeply about this community. I want to be a voice for everyday residents, and I’m ready to work on local issues and smart spending. I'm not a politician and don't plan to be. I'm a life-long county resident and I'm passionate about preserving our town and way of life.” Rich Michael, running to succeed retiring Town Clerk Mary Jeanne Hoose, said, “I’ve always believed in providing friendly, efficient service while being a good steward of taxpayer dollars. Working with Mary Jeanne over the years, I've learned so much, but nothing more important than providing great customer service to all of our town residents.” Highway Superintendent Lou Lamont brings decades of experience in roadwork and public works. “I know what it takes to get the job done efficiently and responsibly,” Lamont said. “As part of your Claverack team, my goal is to keep our roads safe and well-maintained while staying within budget.” The Claverack team is deeply committed to strengthening the town’s partnership with the Village of Philmont—sharing services where it makes sense, supporting village priorities, and working together to improve the quality of life for all residents. Together, your Claverack team stands for smart budgeting, support of public safety, community engagement and local values that make Claverack home.
